Crescent Electric Supply Acquires Womack
Crescent Electric has acquired Womack Electric Supply. Headquartered in East Dubuque, IL, Crescent Electric is the 8th largest electrical distribution company in the U.S. The 98 year old, family-owned business serves contractors, institutional and industrial customers with a broad line of electrical, industrial and datacomm products from over 160 branch locations nationwide.
Founded in 1938, Womack has grown from a single location to become the recognized market leader in Virginia and North Carolina. With approximately 150 employees, Womack serves customers from 18 stocking locations in Virginia and North Carolina. The purchase closed on July 31, 2017.
Marty Burbridge, President and CEO of Crescent Electric Supply Company, and Ray Womack, CEO of Womack Electric Supply, remarked that they were thrilled at the opportunity to bring two companies together with such similar reputations, strengths and market presence. They both noted that the companies are very much alike and share the same values and vision – build a respected brand, develop solid relationships with customers and suppliers, maintain high ethical standards and remain financially solid.
Womack will continue to operate as a stand-alone business supported by Crescent resources – under the Womack name and with the same employees, leadership team and suppliers. The strengths of both respective companies will be leveraged to provide even better customer service and support. These strengths include local inventory supported by 140 stocking Crescent branch locations, and the ability to support customers locally outside of the present Womack service area. No changes are intended to be made to the product lines or suppliers currently offered by Womack and both companies look forward to earning your continued business by providing quality products and excellent customer service.
