Personal Protective Equipment

Dress for Success

PPE is equipment that is worn to make the workplace safer by minimizing exposure to hazards and risks that may result in serious workplace injuries.  Dressing for success in this regard, as explained in Thomas Domitrovichs’ article entitled Personal Protective, for the Independent Electrical Contractor website, is “important, if not critical, to a better chance of a trip home and not to some other less desirable destination (i.e.; Emergency Room). ”

The 2018 edition of NFPA 70E identifies that risk assessments are required on job sites.  These assessments are designed to identify hazards, assess risks, and allow for implementation of risk controls.  Electrical contractors should begin immediately by incorporating the risk assessment process into their electrical job safety plans and ensuring workers are properly trained on risk controls and how to implement them.
Having the correct PPE to fit the environment of the task at hand and ensuring that it is rated to provide protection for the level of risk is extremely important.  Just as important, workers must be trained in the proper use of PPE and instructed to use it when required.  Equipping workers with the right safety gear begins with selecting the right products.  Womack Electric Supply is ready to help you with ensuring that you and your staff have the PPE you need to remain safe in the workplace.
